Religion Of Science

Casually browsing the BBC RSS feed is almost like a daily dose of vitamins, thanks to the BBC feed impregnated in to the firefox 3.0 web browser. Its usually a good catch up dominant global headlines which are shaping the world politics and culture today.

Two interesting entries one below the other.

First about yet another suicide bombing killing several in the troubled North West of Pakistan, which now seems to be of daily occurrence.

The other about Europe’s new billion-euro Herschel space observatory, launched in May, having achieved a critical milestone -it opened its “eye” in the sky as the headline put it.

This sharp contrast which has been there since centuries, a fascinating and uneasy romance between the word of science Vs. the word of religion.

These two headlines today is continuing the age old competition and perhaps will soon draw to some conclusion

On one hand, religion with a prophet, a God, a savior and demi Gods claiming absolute knowledge of all that there is, was and will be – as written down or spoken by a few who could communicate with forces beyond the 5 senses. Till this day, the crusade continues to enforce this law of God on all mankind for the ultimate salvation of all who live.

Science on the other hand through the centuries slowly continued its quest to know the absolute knowledge of all that there is, was and will be – beyond the 5 senses. On one hand by splitting atoms  as the human mind tries to peek  inner and  inner still in to the smallest elements of an atom, and on the other trying to  to peek further and further still in to  the magnificent vastness of the seemingly infinite space of the universe.

It leads me to think, which is a better  quest – The science of religion or the religion of science ?

It only dismays as we read where mankind has reached in pursuing the science of religion, ironically instead of leading mankind to an awakening is trying to viloently push it in to archaic and ancient realms of darkness – restricted to a few words scribbled on to the pages of some books. The souls of humans instead of perceiving that which is beyond the 5 senses is experiencing a pain and suffering of all the 5 senses, living in dismay and dying in trauma.

The religion of science on the other hand gradually and gently leading to the awakening of the human mind to something fantastic which perhaps is beyond the 5 senses, something which points us all to the singular concept of simplicity beyond all complexity. The infinite order and vastness of space can also be peeked as we split the atoms, and find there is more to go.

As the uneasy stand off continues between the Science of Religion and the Religion of Science, each side hoping to win, I for one am for the Religion of Science and truimph, for the human mind will be enlightened and have knowledge of the ultimate truth; that which the other side claims to be in possession of and wants to forcefully enforce.

As the violence continues, with each such step there is hope for this new age religion to conquer the imminent darkness which seeks to engulf mankind with the darkness it carries in  this new  age of light. As man wears from the pain of death and enforced mental slavery, seek to break free and open their minds to freedom; to love, to live and to flourish freely.

  1. Nice blog. Pity you are wrong.

Religion will always play a part in history, just have a look at the growth of islam in the middle east. Yes Science may emancipate the human race, but to follow it as a religion is totally wrong.

Religion denotes faith, and science does not require faith at all.

  2. I agree. To view religion and science as contradictory is an exaggeration of the subtleties that are actually at the heart of that which both seek. So what when these ‘primitive’ wars are dated? Will we then fight for or against Science? The violence is not due to the subject of ‘differences’, but rather due to human tendency to ‘differentiate’. It takes a very open mind and infinite humility to be a scientist with an objective outlook on religion. And its the same vice versa.
