Once again my blog and domain hoster decided to make things a bit lively for me. I logged in today staring at a blank directory listing of my public html folder. I logged in to CPANEL and found that the folder was empty !!
Though the MYSQL database was intact and it had data in it, just the wordpress install folder was empty !
A few minutes after the initial panic and fear that some hackers had brought down my site, I could figure out where the problem was. Browsing through the file structure I realized that there seems to have been an apache webserver upgrade on the backend setup of my hoster and the soft links connecting the web folder with my blog folder had snapped !
It took me a minute to restore the broken link and the website came back to life again. While at it, upgraded it to the latest wordpress install and also a new “bambaiya” theme.
Also added my blog as an application to my facebook page. Everytime I add a new blog, hopefully the facebook api should see this and paste it as an FB entry.
Time to test out !!
